In Rav Hirsch's Horeb (translated by Dr. I. Grunfeld), the following editorial note of the translator appears on page 517: "In 1896 Dr. Mendel Hirsch, eldest son of Samson Raphael Hirsch, and Principal of the renowned 'Hirsch Realschule' in Frankfort, published a Commentary on all the Haftoroth of the year under the title Die Haphtoroth (Frankfort-am-Main). This work, in which the prophetical passages read in our synagogues in the course of the year are explained in the spirit of S.R. Hirsch's system of thought, contains an impressive philosophy of Jewish history and its application to the various epochs in the annals of our people. There was hardly a Jewish Orthodox home in Germany where this work was not studied on the Sabbath. It deserves to be saved from oblivion and to be translated into Hebrew and English." This high praise prompted me to inquire whether the editor's hope had been realized. Happily, it has, in this splendid edition, which fully warrants the editor's praise.
